SVZT

The SVZT rod seal is a combination of a filled PTFE ring (usually 40% bronze) and an energizing O-ring. It is a technical development of the SRVD profile that can be used in the same housings and applications. The two sides of the seal are angled, enabling it to retain the compact, robust shape of standard rod seals, while retaining the flexibility needed to achieve maximum pressure-dependent compression. The angled edge, created by the special design of the cross-section, allows an additional degree of freedom for the joint.

Maximum compression is therefore always shifted to the area of the rim that is directly subjected to pressure. On the edge on the low-pressure side, the joint has only neutral stress zones, with no compressive load or shear stress, effectively reducing the risk of joint extrusion due to backlash.

The resulting benefits are many: very good static sealing, greater safety in the presence of contaminated fluids thanks to greater clearance from extrusion, the possibility of using larger radial clearances (around 50%) depending on operating conditions.
