DESCRIPTION

RB axial seals, also known as Gamma Rings, combine the high speed capability of mechanical seals and the simplicity of oil seals.

Their design is quite simple: it consists of a metal-cased housing made of steel with chrome-plated or zinc-plated treatment and a sealing part in NBR or FPM. The metal case works as a protector for the sealing element and is an effective deflector (a device that modifies the trajectory of a fluid). The metallic part also helps to remove any impurity through centrifugal force, also allowing effective drainage after immersion in liquids. The components are not bonded together but the rubber part is stretched and held in the housing thanks to its elasticity.

The axial seals are specifically designed to be fixed to the shaft at a predetermined distance from the surface to be sealed which is positioned perpendicular to the shaft. During rotation, the lip sticks against the metal part under a pressure calculated to achieve maximum sealing. In addition, it is worth mentioning the deflector function of the axial seal which also takes advantage of the centrifugal force to improve the required sealing.

ADVANTAGES

  • Use of centrifugal force to achieve a high level of sealing against grease, dust and dirt
  • Reduced friction due to high rotational speed
  • No need for superior surface finishing
  • Ease of installation and maintenance

APPLICATIONS

Pumps, transmission systems, electric motors, machine tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS
